I love being creative!

It’s been over six months since I painted daily, and recently I haven’t been painting at all.  The reason I stopped painting was because I’ve started sewing again after many years, and I felt like I should dedicate my creative energy to sewing.  Last night I welled up with tears in my eyes when I was looking at a blog written for creatives, and realized that I’ve been feeling stunted because I haven’t been expressing my creativity on a regular basis.  Taking a break from painting has made me realize that creating artwork is a necessary outlet for me to express myself!  I never realized before just how important it is to my happiness to paint.

I had this huge canvas that I received as a Christmas gift last year, and it’s been sitting collecting dust.  So I got out the remainder of my Pantone Acrylic Paints and a big fluffy paint brush and created this Zen painting in a minimalist style.  It’s a gift for my husband, and I can’t wait for him to see it!  (Hopefully he won’t see this post until he gets home!)  I’m trying to create a minimalist home for us just to simplify our surroundings, so I wanted to make him a work that was tranquil, earthy and very Zen.  I hope he loves it, and it felt great to pick up a paint brush again!
